Chickpeas with Ground Beef
This is a great cold-weather meal. This Turkish dish is best when served with dill pickles. It can be eaten alone or served with quinoa or brown rice.
Ingredients

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
-
½ cup chopped onion
-
½ pound ground beef
-
2 15-oz cans of garbanzo beans
-
2 tablespoons tomato or pepper paste
-
3 cups of water
-
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions

Heat oil over medium heat in a large pot.

Add ground beef and cook until browned.

Add onions and saute until tender, about 5 minutes.

Add beans and mix.

Pour water into pot, add paste, and mix well.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Bring to a boil, reduce heat, then cover and simmer for about 20 minutes.
